Inaugurated in 1990 alongside Changi Airport Terminal 2, the Skytrain is an automated people mover system connecting the terminals. Initially, two parallel tracks were built, one for airside passengers and the other for the public.

Initially, the system relied on Adtranz C-100 trains running on a central guideway. A major S$135 million expansion project, completed between 2002 and 2006, connected both terminals to the newly built Terminal 3. This upgrade also introduced a new airside passenger system on the South side. To accommodate the Mitsubishi Crystal Mover, the guideway was converted, allowing the old system to continue functioning while the new one was installed. By March 2006, the upgraded system between Terminals 1 and 2 was fully operational, followed by the opening of new lines to Terminal 3 in November 2007.

Skytrain Station B is located at the north end of Terminal 3, on Level 2 (Departures). Trains from Station B connect to Terminal 1 (Station C) with two-car trains and to Terminal 2 (Station E) with three-car trains.

Terminal 1 has two Skytrain stations connecting to other terminals. Station C, located at the West end on Level 2 near Check-in Row 1, provides two-car trains to Terminal 3 (Station B). For Terminal 2, passengers should go to Station D at the East end of Terminal 1, also on Level 2 near Check-in Row 14. Station D operates two-car trains to Terminal 2 (Station E).

Skytrain Station E is located at the North end of Terminal 2 on Level 2 (Departures). Trains from Station E connect to Terminal 1 (Station D) with two-car trains and Terminal 3 (Station B) with three-car trains.

Terminal 1

To reach Terminal 2, take the Skytrain from Station D located near Gate D40 at the east end of Terminal 1. For Terminal 3, use Station C near Gate C1 at the west end of Terminal 1.

Terminal 2

Skytrain Station E is located near Gate E20 in Terminal 2, connecting to Terminal 1 (Station D) and Terminal 3 (Station B). In Terminal 2, find Skytrain Station F near Gate F50 for access to Terminal 3 (Station A).

Terminal 3

Skytrain Station A, near Gate A9, connects Gates A15-A21 to the rest of Terminal 3 and Terminal 2 (Station F). Station A (South), near Gate A21, serves arriving and transferring passengers. Skytrain Station B, near Gate B5, links Terminal 1 (Station C) and Terminal 2 (Station E).

Rolling Stock

The Changi Airport Skytrain utilizes Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Crystal Mover rolling stock, sharing technology with Singapore’s Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems. These automated people movers feature rubber tires for quiet operation in urban environments. Guided by side rails and a power rail on each side, the trains can operate in single, double, or triple-car configurations, with triple-car trains introduced in 2019.

Trains offer ample space and wide doors, making luggage loading and unloading effortless.

Skytrain Upgrades

In April 2019, Changi Airport’s Skytrain network received six new train cars. The system also saw upgrades to its signaling and communication systems, along with station facilities. The shuttle between Terminals 2 and 3 (Stations B and E) was expanded from two to three cars. The shuttle between Terminal 3 and Gates A15–A21 (Stations A and A South) was upgraded from a single car to a two-car system.
